Past Grant Impact: Inclusion in Action

Here are some successful ways that our inclusion grants have been used to allow for meaningful side-by-side participation among non-disabled peers:

    • A private lifeguard to support an inclusive swim experience

    • A racing chair enabling participation in road races

    • Adaptive equipment for competitive horseback riding

    • An adaptive ski prosthetic to join a high school ski team

    • Dance training and support for competition on-stage with peers

    • A mobile stand for participation in a college marching band

Dick and Judy Hoyt
“Yes You Can” Grant Program

Dick and Judy Hoyt believed their son Rick should never be limited by his disability. Through relentless advocacy, they ensured he could live, learn, play — and compete — alongside his non-disabled peers.

Because of their efforts, Rick participated in marathons, competed in triathlons, earned a college degree, and showed the world what inclusion truly looks like when barriers are removed.

The Dick and Judy Hoyt YES YOU CAN Inclusion Grant proudly carries their names and their philosophy: removing barriers so individuals with disabilities can participate, belong, and thrive.

Offering Direct Support to Families

Many families want their child with a disability to experience the same activities as their peers — to play, learn, and participate alongside them — but face financial, adaptive, or access-related barriers that can make inclusion difficult or out of reach.

In 2022, after nearly five decades of raising awareness and funds to advance inclusion for individuals with disabilities, The Hoyt Foundation established the Dick and Judy Hoyt YES YOU CAN Inclusion Grant. Proudly administered in partnership with the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, the grant awards $50,000 annually to helps families remove those barriers by providing direct financial support for meaningful, inclusion-focused needs.

Families with a child or young adult with a disability can apply for grants up to $10,000 to support:

  • Adaptive sports or recreational equipment
  • Specialized instruction, coaching, or lessons
  • Accessibility modifications that enable participation
  • Program fees that allow inclusion alongside non-disabled peers

Applications open January 10th – we welcome you to apply!

Application Timeline:

  • Applications Open: January 10, 2026
  • Applications Close: March 8, 2026
  • Grant Notifications: June 1, 2026
