The Hoyt Foundation June Newsletter

From the Office of the President

They ran and walked and cheered for Dick and Rick.  On Saturday May 27th we had planned for the first annual Dick Hoyt Memorial YES YOU CAN Run Together and Rick passed away a week before the event.

We thought about what Rick and Dad would have wanted we asked ourselves can we have this event?  The only answer was YES YOU CAN! And we did!

It was amazing, congrats to our overall winners:

  • Male - Michael Schroeder
  • Duo – Brendan Aylward & Jacob Wyman
  • Female - Becca Pizzi

This event was a success because of our sponsors, volunteers, runners, walkers and everyone who came to support us.

The Children from the Marathon Elementary School decorated the entire parking with sidewalk chalk sharing our YES YOU CAN message and Ellie Moore completed the 2 mile walk propelling herself in her wheelchair; we had a color guard from my father’s Air National Guard Unit, the 104th Fighter Wing:

We plan to make this an annual event so If you weren’t able to join us this year please plan for it next year.

The Flutie Foundation pays tribute to Rick’s commitment to breaking barriers, embracing diversity, and fostering acceptance.
