The Hoyt Foundation July Newsletter

From the Office of the President

July is the month of my favorite holiday the 4th of July!  Independence Day represents everything Team Hoyt is all about.

  • Striving for justice to ensure that individuals with disabilities are included in things they are passionate about.
  • Gathering friends and family so we can honor the past and celebrate the future.
  • Getting outside and participating in all kinds of spirited and adventurous activities.

We had to move our 40+ year tradition of getting the Hoyt clan together.  This year we had to move it from Holland as we are working to sell the house Mom and Dad bought in 1983!  My father’s brother Herbie’s daughter, my cousin Vicky (not to be confused with my cousin Vinnie, if you get the reference…) was gracious enough to host.

I hope each and everyone of you gets to start the summer as well as the Hoyt’s have.  Happy fourth of July one and all.

International Impact

At this year’s Boston Marathon I got in the elevator wearing my Team Hoyt 10th Anniversary pullover and the gentleman asked me if I knew the Hoyts.  I explained I was Dick’s youngest son and Rick’s youngest brother and he told me they were the reason he had come to Boston to run.  I was recently thinking about the conversation and then I received this email:

We meet at the elevator … I found the pic that I took with your father and brother in 2010 at Disney Marathon. Your family is one of the most emotional examples that I had in my life… continue with the legacy!

God bless you from Brazil

Team Hoyt Ambassador

We recently had a request from Maris Zunic in Montreal Canada. Maris wrote,

I bought a singlet at the 2016 Boston marathon expo. It has been my favorite singlet and I wore it for every single race. Sadly, I had to retire the singlet a couple of years ago because it got unbearably stinky

I would like to know if it’s possible to buy one off your website. I live in Montreal, Canada.

Maris purchased an Ambassador packet and is now representing Team Hoyt in a half Ironman.

I’m ready for my 70.3 at Montreal Tremblant!

Team Hoyt was also represented at this year’s BAA 10K.  Craig Capello donned his Team Hoyt singlet and ran the BAA 10K in an impressive 58:50!
