The Hoyt Foundation February Newsletter

From the Office of the President

February is a month where we celebrate love.  What do you love about what you do. Do you love to run and the feeling you get when you hit your pace?  Do you love to roll in your chair or walk along a favorite path or street, seeing the familiar sites?  Do you love your work and the impact it has?  Do you love what you study in school and how that knowledge expands your thought process?  One thing all of these experiences have in common is impact.  Each thing has an impact.

I love that I get to tell the Story of Team Hoyt and the impact that it has.  Just two weeks ago I was reminded of that impact when I presented YES YOU CAN – The Story of Team Hoyt at the Run Show Boston.  After the presentation a gentleman approached me and told me he has a number to run the Boston Marathon in April. He then told me, he since has been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and was thinking he wouldn’t be able to run. After hearing the Team Hoyt story and the YES YOU CAN message he told me, he was going to push through, keep running, and work to recover! I was blown away. I love that the impact is that Dad and Rick are still changing lives for the better.

Run Show Boston Recap

Team Hoyt and The Hoyt Foundation were well represented at the Run Show Boston.  Our booth looked great!

The YES YOU CAN JAM game was a big hit and we gave away over 200 Team Hoyt Frisbees.  It is safe to say we have a lot of fans flying around!

YES YOU CAN – The Story of Team Hoyt was well received on Saturday.  Dad and Rick’s message is still so very strong and we helped people remember Mom’s part in everything that Team Hoyt is and always will be!

Tons of old and new friends stopped by the booth.  Russ was interviewed for a podcast and we sold some gear, books and helped folks learn about inclusion.

Big thanks to our crew:

Lisa, Russ, Troy and Amanda provided support for the whole weekend.  Ryan and Amber helped on Saturday and Cam and Zoe on Sunday.
