The Hoyt Foundation August Newsletter

From the Office of the President

Summer is a time for relaxation and reflection.  Check out this mirror created by Darlene Hayes.

Darlene just recently requested to become a Team Hoyt Ambassador.  When applying she shared this:

"I recently walked the 2-mile portion of the Yes You Can in honor of Dick in Hopkinton, actually wearing the t-shirt now as I type this email. I have been inspired for years by Team Hoyt especially as a supporter of the Metrowest YMCA. Over the years I had met Dick & Rick many times and would be interested in volunteering at events and participating in walks. I also have a second home in Southern Maine and available to support events in MA & ME."

We love that Darlene wants to walk and volunteer.  My big summer reflection is that there are so many ways people can be a part of Team Hoyt through this new Ambassador program.  Darlene also told us:

"I am not a runner but do participate in walks, I do golf and have participated/organized lots of golf tournaments and understand the support side of these along with volunteer management and event management skills for grassroots fundraising events, galas and sporting events including helping recruit runners for non-profits for the Boston Marathon & previously working for Billie Jean King."

I responded to Darlene and told her it would be great to have her play golf wearing her Team Hoyt gear.  If you are interested in running cool, join us.  But please realize there is room for everyone to participate in their own way.  We welcome you all.

Center of Hope Renames Golf

Tournament to Honor Judy, Dick and Rick

Center of Hope renames Golf Tournament to Honor Judy, Dick and Rick.

Saturday August 5, 2023 Leicester, MA - The Hoyt Foundation sent 2 teams to play golf at the Hoyt Family Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by the Center of Hope.  The Foundation was represented by Herb Hoyt, Matt Sordi (Family Friend), Rob Hoyt, Cam Hoyt, Tony Sowers (Family Friend), Russ Hoyt, Ryan Hoyt and Jaymes Hoyt.  The group is pictured below with Kayla Krause, Director of Marketing and Sales for the Center of Hope.

After the first nine holes the group had lunch and got to use a golf cannon on the 10th whole.

The highlight of the day was before we even started golfing.  Rob and Russ Hoyt Presented a check to Erika Burrows COO of the Center of Hope for $35,000.  The Center of Hope will use the donation to continue the Mission of the Center of Hope Foundation, Inc. which is to provide people with disabilities and their families from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds with the resources, services, and opportunities to be contributing members of their communities and to achieve the most fulfilling and meaningful lives possible.

Lastly, we would like to thank John Rowley for his efforts to put on this tournament and his suggestion to rename the tournament from the Dick Hoyt Memorial to the Hoyt Family Memorial Golf Tournament so we can now honor Mom, Dad and Rick.

Please save the date and join us next year July 20, 2024.
